Physiotherapists and Chiropractors can treat in similar ways now due to movement toward evidence-based practice. Many Physiotherapists can provide manipulations, which were traditionally considered a Chiropractic technique. Subsequently many Chiropractors can prescribe exercise therapy, something thought of as a Physiotherapy treatment.
It is recommended that when choosing a manipulative physiotherapist, sports physiotherapist, or a chiropractor, you look for someone who takes the time to do a thorough assessment, explains the reasons behind the treatments, and gives you some exercise or stretching to do at home.
If a practitioner tells you to come in 3 times a week for 5 weeks without explanation, or doesn’t give you any tools to self-manage the condition, perhaps they are not the best practitioner for you to see.
